Emergency contraception (EC) is available in pharmacies all 50 states without a prescription for consumers 18 and older with proof of age. In nine states (Alaska, California, Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Washington and Vermont) 17 years and older women may get EC directly from specially trained pharmacists without providing an advance prescription.
